After eight years of American servicemen and women putting themselves in harm's way, risking their lives and serving honorably, it seems that the least New York City could do is give them a proper hero's welcome. Veterans of numerous other wars including the previous Gulf War and Vietnam have been honored in a similar fashion. This parade would be funded by private donations and taxpayer expense would be minimal. It's the right thing to do.
